Description

I made the first Bead Bobbin when someone asked me to make weights for a ribbon/yarn project. Like Key Beads, they started out as stationary beads wrapped around the bobbin core (Fixed), but I now make Spinners (bead spins around inside bobbin) as well. Bobbins present a serious challenge in that I must be EXTREMELY careful not to melt the metal bobbin as I make the bead in it.

Bobbins are the regular items used in sewing machines, but heavy duty steel…not the lightweight ones.

About Beads:

I use 104 COE glass – Effetre (formerly Moretti), Lausha, Messy, and assorted silver reactives like TAG and Double Helix. I work on either a Nortel Minor or GTT Lynx torch and use either my Arrow Springs A-18 kiln or my Toolbox kiln for annealing. All my beads are properly annealed in one of the digitally controlled kilns, and then cleaned thoroughly of bead release using specially designed reamers in my Foredom.
